Week 15 Overview
Week 15 delivered an exciting mix of cup and league action across the Uttoxeter & District Sunday Football League. Fixtures were played on challenging pitches, but the teams produced high-quality football, dramatic finishes, and standout individual performances. From Charity Trophy dominance to high-scoring Division 1 clashes, spectators were treated to memorable encounters.

Charity Trophy Round 2: Leigh vs Bulls Head Marchington – 1–6
A heavy pitch tested both sides, but Marchington adapted well, securing a convincing win. Leigh started brightly, with Will Whitehurst narrowly missing an early chance, but Marchington struck first through a goal-mouth scramble finished by Whelan. Will Hepburn then doubled the lead with a precise right-footed finish.
Marchington controlled midfield through Kyle Esplin, providing more opportunities for Hepburn, who completed his brace. Leigh pulled one back via Whitehurst, but Marchington responded with a bullet header from Chris Richards and added two more goals from Hepburn, taking the final score to 6–1. Only one yellow card was issued in a competitive but fair encounter.

Charity Trophy Quarter Final: Charlie Bassetts vs Alton – 1–4
Bassetts welcomed three debutants(Elliott Newman a surprise signing to face his son Dexter in the Alton side) in a tough quarter-final clash on a barely playable pitch. Alton dominated from the outset, racing into a 3–0 lead through Mahdi Hassan, Dexter Newman, and Alex Morris. Bassetts pulled a goal back through Denan Farrington before half-time, but Alton’s superiority continued in the second half. Seb Smith added a late fourth, sealing a 4–1 victory. Credit to Bassetts for resilient defending and fighting spirit despite the scoreline.

Division 1: Stone vs Sudbury – 8–4
A bottom-of-the-table thriller saw Stone overturn an early deficit to secure a high-scoring win. Sudbury took a 3–0 lead with goals from Andy Matthews and Harry Wanford, but a first-half penalty for Stone was saved. The hosts gradually capitalised on their numerical advantage after a Sudbury player received a red card, scoring multiple goals through Brown and Jones. Wanford completed his hat-trick for Sudbury, but Stone held on to win 8–4, showing determination and clinical finishing.

Division 1: Bramshall vs Tean – 4–4
Spectators enjoyed a pulsating contest featuring early goals, penalties, and late drama. Bramshall struck first through Josh Howson, but Tean quickly responded with a penalty from Ash Keates. Junior Alves and Sean Cocker gave Tean a 3–1 half-time lead. Bramshall responded in the second half, with Brandon Atkins and Josh Ellis leveling the score at 3–3. Simon Walker restored Tean’s lead, but a dramatic late goal from Atkins secured a 4–4 draw in a match that showcased attacking flair and resilient defending from both sides.
