It was back to league action for 6 teams today with two matches in the Premier Division and one in Divison 1.

Oldfields entertained Alton in a cagey first half to their respective League Campaigns. ‘Fields piled on early pressure with their trademark set piece routines and directness, but Alton stood firm. This was until a free kick lofted into the box by Jack Jeffery found its way into the net ten minutes from half time. The second half saw a new impetus by Alton, as the men in red pressed hard to get back into the game. Their efforts were rewarded when a penalty was given following a coming together of ‘Fields ‘Keeper Hudson and the industrious forward Dawson. Chaz Lucy stepped up to expertly score. This saw Alton in the ascendancy for the remainder of the game, and should have snatched a goal two or three times. But the experienced Oldfields back line held firm to claim what could prove a valuable point. Man of the matches were Charlie Lucy and Joe Lobosco.

New boys Charlie Bassetts travelled to Sudbury Park and in a tough battle they won 3-1. They broke the deadlock after just 7 minutes when Callum Stockbridge scored after a route one ball from goalkeeper Brad Cummings. It was 2-0 on 27 minutes after Jordan Taylor scored a free kick on his debut after hitting the crossbar a few minutes before. Even though the score was 2-0 at half time it could have been more. The second half was a lot more cagey. Sudbury never stopped running and it’s clear that the criteria of having to of hit level 11 on the bleep test shows. The strength and ability of their players will make them a team to be very cautious of this season. Veteran Chris Lockett made it 3-0 after a defensive error on 60 minutes. Sudbury got a consolation on 82 minutes but Charlie Bassetts saw the game out to ensure they go to top of the league. Man of the match was Jack Kay.

In Division 1 Bramshall and Stone Town played out an exciting 5-5 draw with goals from Ethan Jones(2), Simon Naggington, Ben Fraser and Owen Brown. Bramshall scorers were Elliot Oxley(2), Josh Ellis(2) and Brandon Alkins. Man of the match was Ethan Jones

On Thursday in the Ken Green Group Stage Stone Town beat Tean Rangers 4-1 at Wentlows Both teams started brightly o a very bouncy uneven surface. Play swayed from end to end, and it was Tean who took the lead on 15 minutes through Adam Little breaking away and shooting past an advancing keeper. Undaunted Stone hit back in the 25th minute with superb strike into the bottom corner. The score of an even first half was 1-1. The second half was all Stone they scored a second goal just after half time and it seemed to knock the stuffing out of Tean although they battled to the end Stone deservedly scored another 2 goals and were well on top at the finish. Stone goalscorers were Ethan Jones(2) and Owen Brown(2)
