WEEK 12 ROUND-UP

Premier Divivsion

Tuns 5 (Roik x3, Hudson, Charlesworth) – 1 Sudbury Park

The game began quietly, with both sides feeling each other out during the opening ten minutes. Tuns soon took control, creating a series of back-to-back chances and applying sustained pressure on Sudbury Park, though they couldn’t immediately make it count.

The deadlock was eventually broken as Tuns went 1–0 up, but Sudbury responded well and levelled the score at 1–1. Before the break, Tuns regained their lead from the penalty spot to make it 2–1 at halftime.

The second half continued in a strong and physical fashion, with Tuns maintaining their momentum. They added three more goals to seal a convincing 5–1 victory. It was a fair result in an intense match that featured several cautions, a penalty, and a sin bin.

Marchington 3 – 0 Tean

The game kicked off with both sides battling for control in the early stages. Marchington looked to play their trademark flowing football, but Tean worked hard to disrupt their rhythm and refused to let them settle.

The breakthrough came in the 25th minute when Tean goalkeeper Walker managed to palm a shot onto the crossbar, only for Chris Richards to react quickest and slot home the rebound from a tight angle.

Half-time: 1–0 to Marchington.

The second half followed a similar pattern, with Tean continuing to press and challenge for every ball. It took a moment of quality from Kyle Esplin to extend Marchington’s lead — a fine strike from 20 yards that found the back of the net.

Despite Tean’s determination and battling spirit, Marchington sealed the win with a third goal from Will Hepburn, ending any hopes of a comeback.

A good, competitive game played in great spirit.

Full-time: Marchington 3 – 0 Tean

Charlie Bassetts 1 – 3 Alton

The match was originally scheduled to be played at Alton’s ground, but due to heavy rain over the past couple of days, it was switched to the Charlie Bassetts FC Arena.

Alton kicked off and made an immediate impact — within just 24 seconds, a cross into the Bassetts box led to an own goal to give Alton an early 1–0 lead.

After the early setback, the game began to settle down. Alton pushed for a second goal but were wasteful in front of goal, with Archie McNair and Lewis Dawson both missing good chances to extend the lead. That kept the score at 1–0.

Bassett also created opportunities of their own but, like Alton, couldn’t find the finishing touch. In midfield, Alton’s Alex Morris and Jack Edge began to dominate — winning headers and controlling possession — and their link-up play paid off when Hassan doubled the visitors’ lead.

Half-time: Charlie Bassetts 0 – 2 Alton

Bassetts came out strongly after the break, looking to get the ball to their forward line, but Alton defender Jack Rowe was outstanding at the back, reading the game well and cutting out numerous attacks. Rowe earned Man of the Match for a commanding defensive performance.

Midway through the second half, Bassetts pulled one back with a well-taken free kick between Jordan Taylor and Max Hill who scored from 25 yards out to make it 1–2, sparking hopes of a comeback. Alton responded by pressing for a third, but the Bassetts goalkeeper Brad Cummings was in fine form, producing several key saves to keep his team in the game.

However, with five minutes remaining, Lewis Dawson sealed the win for Alton.

A well-contested game between two good sides, played with intensity throughout.

Full-time: Charlie Bassetts 1 – 3 Alton
Six yellow cards were issued in what was a competitive but fair encounter.

Division 1

Cheadle SMU 1 – 5 Bramshall

The first half was evenly contested, with both sides playing some good football and creating a few half-chances. The only goal of the half came from a Bramshall corner, flicked on at the near post and finding Durbin completely unmarked at the back post. He turned well and fired home from around six yards out.

Half-time: Cheadle SMU 0 – 1 Bramshall

The second half opened up as both teams showed more attacking intent. Bramshall doubled their lead when the Cheadle goalkeeper misjudged a cross from the right, allowing Hymass to stoop and head in at the back post.

A mix-up in the Cheadle defence then gifted Bramshall another goal, with Durbin rounding the keeper to score his second of the game.

Cheadle responded with a spell of pressure and pulled one back when a midfielder fired in from the edge of the area after Bramshall failed to clear their lines.

Bramshall quickly restored their three-goal advantage from another set piece on the right, as Ellis volleyed home from a well-delivered cross.

The final goal of the match was arguably the pick of the bunch — Dacre floated the ball over the goalkeeper from around 20 yards to cap off an impressive Bramshall performance.

Full-time: Cheadle SMU 1 – 5 Bramshall
